Photo 1: I chose this photograph because of it's interesting subject matter. I went to Borderland State park in Easton and walked down some trails to take pictures of reflections in the water. In the photo the reflection of the branches create interesting lines and really natural curves of the branches. Also unintentionally some of the reflected branches are shadows so that is why there are darker lines in the water. This occurred due to the angle at which this was and the remaining sunlight of the day. The picture was taken with less light in the day and with a cloudy sky. Therefore the camera on my phone would e letting on most of the light so it would probably be set near 600 or so. Also the shutter speed was fast so that it captured everything frozen in place. There was also a larger depth of field here to capture the detail and to ensure everything is in focus.
Photo 2: In the second picture I also took at Borderland State park, I chose a picture that I photographed of the edge of the lake. I also felt that the black and white version was more dynamic than the one in color. The shadows are more prevalent in this black and white copy. Also the rocks in the foreground create a sense of depth in the picture, where the rocks are in nearly sharp focus and the background is in less focus. The shutter speed would have been relatively fast and the iso was probably set around 400 because I was in the sunlight. What makes this photo appealing to look at is the reflection in the water of the trees and clouds.
Photo 3: This is one of my double exposures. One picture showed a tree on a trail the other a pole on a narrow street. I modified the tree slightly on the bottom to make a complete shape that had one vertical line instead of a slight curve. The picture with the pole I erased very lightly the edge of the picture to merge smoothly with the picture of the trail. I also made the picture less opaque so that the trail could be seen, but the brickwork still visible. Conceptually both were photos were taken to create examples of aperture. I was hoping to create a feeling that nature and urban life can sometimes clash and that true nature can sometimes be lost. So to make sure nature came out on top I made the trees be the clearer images than the narrow street.
