Out of Class Pictures
For this set of pictures I went to Borderland State park in Easton, Massachusetts. I went in the late afternoon to take the photos around three o’clock and to make it a little more challenging it started to get cloudy as time moved on. For the most part I took pictures of trees and their branches and their reflections on relatively still water. I took the pictures on my phone so I could really only control what the camera focused on. But as far as the shutter speed it would have been relatively fast and the iso was probably set around 400 because I was in the sunlight. The photos were taken on a trail moving around a lake in the park, the first photos were taken looking across the lake were the tree line could be seen in the water and across the way. The water wasn’t as still as I wanted but the small ripples moving across the water add a little affect to the image. The other photos were taken more in the wooded area and focused on branches hanging over the water along the lake. For these pictures I was very close to the branches and nearly in the water. But the photo I want to focus on is the top left composition with some of the shoreline in the photograph. As I said I was looking across the lake and took the reflection of the trees in the water. What makes the photograph interesting is the rippling effect of the water in the reflection, also having the blue sky and clouds in the reflection is quite interesting and shows the real height that the trees have. I think that the photo creates a scene of serenity and exemplifies the idea that harmony can be found anywhere in nature. I think the viewer should feel inspired to take a walk in the park and see the reflections in the water.
